Habitat comment
The cisticola has probably suffered much habitat loss from clearing of natural swamps, but has benefited from the creation of rank grass thickets in padocks, on vacant allotments, around drains, and along rivers and streams cleared of their natural riparian forest. It is not shy of humans, and will utilise tall grass in urban allotments and behind houses. Easily detected by its loud zitting call.
